This work is 36x48 painted with acrylic on cotton duct canvas stretched over wooden bars. This is a painting that has been in my painting storage for a number of years and was completed in 2020. I painted it during covid which was a dark time for most of us. However for many it also became a time to descend deeper into ourselves, or into our inner souls. For me the only thing that kept me sane was my recommittment to painting. I was determined to reconnect with my creative pulse, my inner core which I have always known to be art. I painted in the bedroom, the bathroom and around the kitchen sink in my one bedroom apartment.  You can see why I have given this work the title Rise of the Phoenix.
